A veteran actor with an impressive range, Julian Sands has worked variously in film, television and theatre. Born in Otley, England, Sands was classically trained in drama and began his career with a series of supporting roles in films including The Killing Fields (1984) and Oxford Blues (1984) and the TV-movie adaptation of The Sun Also Rises (1984). In 1985, Sands landed the romantic lead in director James Ivory’s film adaptation of E.M. Forster’s A ROOM WITH A VIEW. His role in the critically acclaimed film launched his successful career in film and television. After charming audiences in A ROOM WITH A VIEW, Sands took on a series of diverse roles in films including Warlock (1989), Arachnophobia (1990), Impromptu (1991), Naked Lunch (1991), Boxing Helena (1993), Leaving Las Vegas (1995), Ocean’s Thirteen (2007) and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011). He has appeared in numerous television series including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, 24, Lipstick Jungle and Smallville.
