Nicola Lubitsch grew up in New York City and Europe. She graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and worked as an actress on Broadway. She took time off to raise her children, quarter horses and Newfoundland dogs. She later worked for public radio, first in fund-raising, and then moved into producing arts programming and presenting classical music. Ms. Lubitsch won a number of awards for Santa Monica-based station KCRW, including a Los Angeles Press Club Award for the Downtown Band, a celebration of musicians of the Los Angeles Philharmonic upon the opening of The Walt Disney Concert Hall. She has served on the boards of AMPPR, the Association of Music Personnel in Public Radio, and the Newfoundland Club of Southern California. As the only child of Ernst Lubitsch, she has been a frequent guest at film festivals and events honoring her father.
