Jerry Zucker

Director and producer Jerry Zucker began his career in collaboration with his brother, David Zucker, and Jim Abrahams when they formed their production company, known as ZAZ. The team wrote and directed the comedy classic AIRPLANE! (1980), wrote and directed Top Secret! (1984), directed the comedy Ruthless People (1986) starring Bette Midler and Danny DeVito, and produced and wrote the cult favorite Kentucky Fried Movie (1977). They created the acclaimed television series Police Squad! and also wrote and produced the popular feature The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988), directed by David Zucker and starring Leslie Nielsen.

Jerry Zucker also directed the box-office hit Ghost (1990), nominated for five Academy Awards including Best Picture and starring Demi Moore, Whoopi Goldberg, and Patrick Swayze, First Knight (1995) starring Sean Connery, Richard Gere, and Julia Ormond, as well as the comedy Rat Race (2001), with an all-star cast including Rowan Atkinson, John Cleese, Whoopi Goldberg, Cuba Gooding, Jr., and Jon Lovitz. As a producer, Zucker’s body of work includes producing A Walk in the Clouds (1995), directed by Alfonso Arau and starring Keanu Reeves; My Life (1993), starring Michael Keaton and Nicole Kidman; the romantic comedy My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997), Australian director P.J. Hogan’s American debut featuring Julia Roberts; Fair Game (2010) featuring Naomi Watts and Sean Penn; and Friends with Benefits (2011), starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. Jerry most recently produced P.J. Hogan's Australian comedy Mental (2012), starring Toni Collette, Liev Schreiber and Anthony LaPaglia.
